Hello to all my family and friends,

Sorry about the mix up with our newsletter at Christmas time. I sent one out to a number of people via e-mail but I did not send a printed one out by regular mail. For those of you that did not receive one, I am sorry, it was probably the best newsletter that I ever made in 11 years on the mission field and you didn’t get it. Oh well, hopefully you receive this one. I hope you all had a wonderful 2010 full of good times and lots of memories but more than that I hope you all have an even better 2011.

I love the new year because for me it means a fresh new start. If you think about it, nothing actually changes. There is no big difference between December 31st and January 1st but for some reason we can all look at it as a new start, the old is gone and the new is yet to come. This year I hope that we can all make some small changes in our own lives to become better people. Forgive someone that you have been holding a grudge against, help someone who need it, or just be nicer. This year is going to be a great year.

For Azucena and I, 2011 is going to be a year of building churches and strengthening relationships. Last year we did not do that much construction on any of the church buildings. We did some little projects here and there but nothing really big or exciting. This past year was more of a year to focus on growing the churches and discipling the people. Every church grew in number and they all seem to be doing very well so this year we will be moving our focus once again to the construction. Every church needs work done but some of the bigger projects will be in Xalisco, Compostela and Las Varas.

In Xalisco we have started the new building. I think we are moving along at a great pace. It looks like we will be able to get the entire building up except for the roof. In Compostela we started building the classrooms and kid’s bathrooms. The classrooms will probably be the same situation as Xalisco in that we will be able to build the walls but we will not have enough for the roof. Little by little we will complete every project.

This past Christmas, our good friends the Bollman’s came down to visit us. It was their first time down since they started supporting us 11 years ago. We had a great time with them and we were able to bless a lot of families around the church in Xalisco on Christmas eve.

Azucena and the girls are doing very good. Azucena is very busy juggling her job as an English teacher, the ministry and the kids. She is a great wife and mom. I am sooo glad that she puts up with me.

We are looking forward to this year and all that 2011 will have to offer. I would like everyone to know that we are ok. Yes there is a lot of violence happening in Mexico but Azucena and I believe that God has called us to be here and He will protect us and the girls while we are here working.

• • Please pray for the newest church in Xalisco. We have been seeing great results with our outreach ministry.
• • Please pray for our vehicles (church vans and personal)… The wear and tear has been too much and we have been having a number of problems with them.
• • Please continue to pray for our safety from all the violence in Mexico and in our area.

Praise Report

• • In the church of Las Varas down south, a piece of property was donated to build on. It is over and acre of property. That is the biggest piece of property that we have as La Fuente.
• • We have teamed up with some friends of our in Guadalajara. Jeremiah and Kelly Frey and they will now be part of La Fuente Ministries. They are church planters down in that area and are doing an incredible job!

Much to many of our surprise God has a plan for each one of our lives. We don’t always know what that plan is or how it will unfold, but we can always count on Him to guide us. Everyday we go about our usual activities and our day-to-day tasks forgetting that the reason we are free to do those things is because God gave us His Son. He gave us the gift of life. We live because He died. God knows what he is doing with each one of us, even if we blessed this world for but a moment. His plans are so much larger than us, so much larger than our minds can comprehend, which is why we need to remember to give thanks.

This is in honor of Alicia Herrera’s 8 years of life here on earth and so many more up in heaven. Her life continues! Thank you, Alicia, for bringing us all together to celebrate our lives.

For nearly 8 short years she lived on this earth, but her life’s impact has only just begun.
