John & Sara Stumbo
ABOUT JOHN
WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? Minnesota, Montana, Wyoming and back to Minnesota.
HOW DID YOU BECOME A PART OF E3? Through the merge of Desert Vista Church and The Life. Came from the DVC side of things.
FAVORITE BOOK(S)? Dick Francis novels, The Horatio Hornblower Sailing series, I’m sure there are others I’m not thinking of…will later, no doubt!
WHAT’S ON YOUR IPOD? Not sure, haven’t listened to it in so long I’ve forgotten. Possibly some old Beatles and some Marley….
FAVORITE VACATION SPOT? So many good ones…probably the current favorite is Portal, Arizona. Never heard of it? One of the reasons it’s my favorite. Off the grid, away from almost everything noisy and irritating; no schedules, except what hike to do each day…you get my drift.
FAVORITE FOOD(S)? Mexican is always a good choice. Homemade hamburgers, on the grill, of course.
FAVORITE PASTIME(S)? Birding, camping, trips to COTP and Mexico
FAVORITE MOVIE QUOTE? “I have no memory of this place!” from Gandolf the Gray in one of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Not sure why, just think it’s a very cool moment.
FAVORITE TV SHOW? Old British sitcom: The Last of the Summer Wine. No, I do not think I’m one of those old duffers, I just think it’s funny and entertaining.
FAVORITE PRO/COLLEGE SPORTS TEAM(S)? I’m a very fickle and sporadic sports fan. Like the Suns when they’re winning once in a while. Same with the D’Backs. Always like the Green Bay Packers. Not sure why being from Minnesota…guess I like their attitude towards their fans.
FAVORITE BAND(S) OR MUSIC GROUP(S)/ARTIST(S)? I really like a lot of the original rock stuff (I was there you know) but I can’t listen to it too long…causes one to get melancholy.
WHO’S YOUR HERO? There are so many…the young people that give their lives serving at COTP. The folks that I get to work with in Mexico and Haiti. They truly inspire me!
WHAT IS ONE UNIQUE FACT ABOUT YOURSELF? Number five of 11 children. No my parents weren’t Catholic OR Mormon. My Mom just wanted a bunch of kids!
IF YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD YOU GO? Again, too many choices, but: Siberia. Having grown up during the “Cold War” always heard of the bad things going on there but now I hear its beautiful and a great place to see; the outback of Australia. Germany is always fun.
